A New Face at Romanelli Commons – Pete Walsh

Pete Walsh is originally from St. Louis and attended Rockhurst University. He has worked in employee benefits for 25 years, the last 15 of which as a UpJohn Blountbroker and consultant. Pete specializes in employer groups with 50-200 employees to assist in managing their employee benefit offerings. He brings energy, humor and the ability to tell a good story to the Romanelli Commons offices!

This was Pete’s first time renting with UpJohn Blount. Pete says, “Marshall is a man of his word. New Kid on the Block Craig Kenton – American Family Insurance

Kenton has spent the last 15 years as a financial advisor and joined the American Family Insurance team in August of 2015. In January of 2016 Kenton began the leasing process with UpJohn Blount Real Estate and moved into the space at 7422 Wornall Road.

Kenton was pleased with the whole leasing process saying it was, “pleasant and fast”. Loren Rea has been practicing law in Kansas City for 40 years and has recently moved from his office in Westport to Romanelli Commons, in Kansas City. Chandelier Commons – The Right Size for Blue Skies

If you’re curious about what it’s like to lease from Upjohn Blount, we’ve got you covered! We’ve talked with one of our tenants, Consuela Shorter, at our Chandelier Commons property at 72nd and Wornall in the Waldo area. Consuela is a learning and development professional at Blue Skies Performance Solutions and specializes in organizational, management and training development.

According to Consuela, Chandelier Commons is in a great area for her office because it’s close to home – and a great price.  “I really like that I have the ability to paint my suite and make the space my own. Also, with it being in the Waldo area, it’s really convenient with all the shops and restaurants so close,” said Consuela.

Roni’s Pub – New UpJohn Blount Tenant at Four Winds

Wonder what it’s like to lease space from UpJohn Blount? Well wonder no more! We recently talked with a new tenant at our Four Winds Property, Roni’s Pub, to get a little insight.

Scott Vangorden is the owner of Roni’s Pub in Overland Park, Kansas and has been leasing the Four Winds space from UpJohn Blount for several months.

According to Scott, business was a little slow at first, as patrons became aware that this was a new concept replacing a former drinking establishment. Roni’s features “the best pub grub in town and an awesome sports bar.” And once the word got out that this was a whole new quality concept, business took off.

Scott said working with UpJohn Blount to lease the space for Roni’s Pub was great. “There have been no problems and they’re very prompt when it comes to responding to calls regarding maintenance for the property,” said Scott.

Property Updates from UpJohn Blount

The last year has been busy for UpJohn Blount!

In Westport we’ve been busy with complete renovation of 901-903 Westport Road, including two new storefronts, bringing life into the south end. Upstairs two outdated  and neglected apartments were drastically renovated for beautiful first class living quarters complete with touches of granite, stainless steel appliances and oak flooring.

While in the Westport neighborhood, stop in and visit our tenants at Normal Human, a locally-created clothing and goods store.

Downtown we recently acquired 3000 Mercier – a large industrial property complete with a dock and storage near Dean Underground.

Last fall we also worked diligently to create two different affordable Office Suite offerings in the Waldo/Brookside area: Romanelli Commons and Chandelier Commons. Both projects included creating a functional workspace for individuals who needed an office away from home with the perks of having features such as conference rooms, provided office furniture, wi-fi and a common area for clients.

Nearby in Waldo, we are renovating an office Space at 7422 Wornall Rd – future home of American Family Insurance agent Craig Kenton.

In the Overland Park area, be sure to look for the rebirth of the 4 Winds Shopping Center while you’re driving on I-35 near 75th street – complete with several new tenants including Roni’s Pub and Kitchen. And on Santa Fe Trail Drive we’ll soon be offering a retail space situated among several other storefronts.

We sat down with Mark Ravis, Owner of Radius Promotions and tenant of our Romanelli Commons building to see how his experience has been with UpJohn Blount.

Radius: We are an independent and locally owned custom apparel/promotional product company.  We specialize in high-end corporate apparel and eCommerce website development.

UJB: How did you find out about Romanelli Commons?

Radius:  Great location.  Very close to my home and stumbled across it while searching for office space.

UJB: After you had toured the facility, what made you decide to move your business to this location?

Radius:  Great location, affordable, well kept space, office available 24 hours per day.

UJB: You met with Marshal Blount to discuss the property – what was your impression?

Radius:  Personable, approachable, reasonable, and easy to discuss questions/concerns.

UJB: Now that you have been at Romanelli for almost a year, how do you feel?

Dr. TaylorWe sat down with Pamela Taylor, Phd., Owner of New Hope Counseling Center and tenant of our Romanelli Commons building to see how her experience has been with UpJohn Blount.

UJB: How did you find out about Romanelli Commons?

Taylor: On Craigslist, actually.

UJB: After you had toured the facility, what made you decide to move your business to this location?

Taylor: Well, of course the price, and the location is great for my clients. I also like the aesthetics of the floor – the way it’s laid out.

UJB: You met with Marshal Blount to discuss the property – what was your impression?

Taylor: Marshal was ready to make things happen when we met, and he was flexible to my needs. Both of which I appreciated. I have also recommended two different people to Marshal since.

UJB: Now that you have been at Romanelli for nearly six months, how do you feel?

Taylor: After 6 months, it was a good decision. The location seems to work out better for most of my clients, and I plan to stay long term.I’d like to grow my business in this building – my clients are comfortable here.

Pamela Taylor, Phd. is the Owner of New Hope Counseling Center and has been in the field for 12 years. Her team consists of two additional counselors and two interns. New Hope works with children, adults and couples who are facing a variety of needs. They accept several insurance plans and self pay.
